evolution

Evolution is pretty cool. It went from bacteria, to fish, to a dog, to monkeys, then to man. That's pretty awesome. It may have taken a long time, some 300+ million years, but it still happened.

You know what else is pretty cool? Modern medicine. It can take a person who should die and extend their life another 10 years or more.

You know what's not cool? The fact that modern medicine and evolution are like Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort; one cannot survive while the other exists. Excusing my Harry Potter reference, it's true that medicine basically counters everything evolution stands for.

By allowing people to live longer than they should, and not getting sick like they normally would, we don't face the hardships that are the fuel to evolution's motor. Everyone lives and everyone is allowed to "spread their seed". No longer is it survival of the fittest. In today's society, it's more like survival of the wealthiest. Unfortunately for Donald Trump's bloodline, monetary value is not a evolutionary trait, while bad hair days might be.

All in all this just means that should something epic happen to the human race, chances are it will be the last thing to happen to the human race. Interesting trade off, serenity now vs insanity later.
